Gypsy Stars Choir
Gypsy Stars Choir is a music project celebrating Roma culture in Newport. It brings together Roma children and families from across Newport to sing and dance, and is a collaboration between Operasonic, Maindee Primary School, Lliswerry High School and G-Expressions.
SUMMER 2022
This summer we have been bringing the choir back to life, running singing sessions at The Riverfront Theatre and Lliswerry High School, and creating a special dance to Hey Romale working with Mibinti Webbe from G-Expressions.
This summer we performed at the following events:
Maindee Festival Pop-up on Saturday 2nd July in Jubilee Park - Choir performance and Hey Romale Dance, and painting workshops led by artist Robert Czibi.
Big Splash Festival on Saturday 23rd July - Choir performance and Hey Romale Dance

Over lockdown in 2020, we visited choir members to sing with them on their doorsteps.
